trying to get everything right with safc

ok i just picked up a 91 talon tsi real cheap:thumb: mods consist of CAI, upper and lowwer i/c piping, 1g BOV crushed, john sheppard transmission, act clutch, 255lph fuel pump, 550cc injectors, boost controller, four layer head gasket, arp head studs, ngk plugs and magnacore wires, full turbo back 2 1/2 exuahst and boost at 15psi...### should it be set at cause its runing really rich and everything is at -10 should i think about downgrading the fuel im new with safc and tuning if sum1 can maye trow sum numbers i can try...it just seems to be blowing some black smoke and a mechanic said it was running really rich

A couple things...If you've just recently gotten this car & haven't done it yet, do a boost leak test 1st & fix any leaks you find. There's no point trying to tune it if you have leaks in the system & that's probably a big part of why it's running rich.

Do you have some sort of logger to see what's going on?

You list a 255 lph fuel pump - no AFPR? If not, trying to get your fuel trims set is going to be really difficult. :notgood:

You say "everything is at -10". Is this the LO Throttle settings on the SAFC, or the HI Throttle settings? If it's the LO settings, that's just a typical correction factor most people will throw in there. If you're talking about the HI settings, then that is richer than what you should typically see for 550 cc injectors. That size injector flows approx. 18% more than stock, so you should have corrections in the area of -18%. However, I wouldn't just go & change those settings to -18% before you correct any other problems like boost leaks, especially if you don't have a logger, as you may create an unsafe situation for your engine. Better to start your tuning a little on the rich side & work your way lean, as long as you have a way to monitor what's going on. ;)
 
yea their is no afpr ..im thinking it would be a good idea to pick one up..and their at -10 at LO setting, and yea i am gunna run a boost leak test, i just piked the car up this morning, just thought i get some opinions since i am extremely new to tuning with safc, thanks alot for the help ill post after the boost leak test and tell the results
