True Titanium Exhaust

Why is it sad? There's nothing special about titanium exhausts, except the price.

Apparently you've been deprived of hearing an Italian exotic with a set, or perhaps a Porsche or Skyline with those pipes. More then just a Price.

Im looking for a True Titanium exhaust for my AWD 1G. Hard time finding one. Any out there?
Due to the cost of manufacturing and lack of demand, nobody is manufacturing these for our 20 year old cars. Other than slight weight savings and corrosion resistance, there's not too many benefits that we would notice with one on a DSM. And the fact that they cost half of your car's blue book, makes it even less practical for them to manufacture and us to purchase.

thanks, my main motivation for a titanium exhaust was the unmistakable exhaust note. There's also a lot of other stuff that our 20 year old cars don't need (like 700hp), but it's sure great to have.:D

It will sound better but you still only have 4 cylinders which never really sound that good.

Back in the day some people would run copper inserts in there exhaust and it sounded amazing-but it gives of harmful gases...

italians, germans, and britts, had four cylinders running superb before we even knew what they were. This is not new crap, they've been doing this stuff for years.

Im a V8 guy. but look at the history of le mans and things of that nature. There were some badass engines out there. 4 and 6.

And you can glue a squirrel to a cactus... but WHY?!

You would be correct sir, I have not heard a Porsche 944 with a set of titanium exhaust pipes. I have to ask myself... do you honestly, seriously believe that you will get even a tiny fraction of that Italian exotic sound off a 4g63, that you could not get far more cheaply with a well-designed exhaust?

Americans have been doing high performance 4 cylinders for a long time.

Is there something special about the properties of titanium that changes the sound, or is it the weight savings you're after? Save your pennies up for someone to weld it : (

I wonder what the weight savings vs. having a side exit exhaust would be.

The use of different metals in the exhaust system will result in different power bands. The harmonic frequency will effect how the exhaust gases flow.

Not on a turbocharged engine.

I dont care with weight savings. im not in any highly completive class where im looking for that 2 extra HP.

and as far as 4cly turbos sounding lame or other, the Lancia's and Fiat's where running blown and turbocharged 4cly and sounded very much like the Porsche's. All of which sound very good. I have yet to hear any 4 or 6 over here that sounded that good.

If you go to MOD 07 I will

I'll be there! I had to put my highflow cat back on though. I got pulled over and got an emmisions violation ticket that I had to take care of (damn CHP). I'll probably take it back off for MOD 07! It sounds pretty good. It's 3" from turbo back, all straight except one 30% angle into the 3" Magnaflow. All stainless!

I like mine it is a thermal R&D with a high flow cat and a Megan DP. Top section of the DP is 2.5 then the rest is 3. Had the neck down section cut from the Megan and the Thermal that is where the cat went.

Those are all boxer engine's, that's why they sound so different.
