I just would like to clear somethings up, Baxsom is talking about the phantom grip and BM designs....terry is talking about a more developed version of those designs, that is custom made for every individual transmission (retrofit). Baxsom is looking for a true lsd, terry is is offering a much more highly advanced version of the PG. Two different ideas, agreed?

So Baxom's research is not lacking, he's noticed that its mostly the phantom grips that break on people, so his choice is to find a true lsd.

Terry's research is correct too the retrofit design has seen over 400whp.

The phantom grip doesnt cause the diff to fail. The phantom grip itself fails sending material into the trans. Metal on metal with no friction material is not a "slip in" LSD. The only thing a phantom grip does is it puts outward pressure against the spyder gears. This does not prevent them from moving, it only applies additional pressure on the shims located behind the spyder gears causing premature wear.

When you remove your stock diff, look at the conical shape right next to the center of the spyder gear and ask yourself how that tiny less than an 1/8 inch ring of contact restricts any movement.

If you read the retrofit writeup I posted above, you will see how that restricted movement, or lack of it, wears into the phantom grip until it fails. That wear pattern is not caused by the phantom grip working, instead its caused by the phantom grips inability to perfom as designed.

Anyone who believes the phantom grip works should just shove a chunk of aluminum into their Diff and reassemble it. That method would operate much like the phantom grip and perform just as well.

PG is good to 300hp? That basically states the PG will hold itself in one piece till you hit 300WHP and after that will destroy your trans.

If you really want to debate how and why a PG doesnt work, do some research first.
