I have searched and couldn't find a definite answer, so here goes. I come from a 3000gtvr4 background. The 5-speed getrags just don't break. The only weak link is the transfer case and output shaft, but the actual transaxle can take 800+lb/ft no problem. Internally the gears are huge.
I'm in the process of building a gvr4 right now. It's come time to build the transmission, this is where i'm lost. My engine build is a rebuilt stock long block with arp headstuds. I'll be running a hx-40 with full supporting mods and shooting for about 400 whp. Will this kill a freshly rebuilt stock transmission? At what point will i need to upgrade? I can do all of the work myself, i've been rebuilding awd manual transmissions for a while. I just can't find any definite torque ratings for this transmissions parts. The pic is of the getrag 3rd and dsm 3rd comparison.
