Transmission question

Will a 1995 transmission work with a 1990 transfercase and rear dif?

i dont think so.Im pretty sure the 2g transmission and 90 transfer case have 2 different spline counts

The splines are the same counted many time with a paint pen

I had a nice paragraph typed up.. then realized you're trying to mate a 90 Trans with a 95+ Transfer case.. ;P

the 90 was an oddball year with 22 splines. I'm pretty sure that the transfer case, no matter if it IS 22 spline, will have countering Gear Ratios opposed to what the 90 Trans needs to interact with.

I'm not sure if the 2G trans mounts are the same but if it's really 1990 parts in there now you will have spline issues with the output shaft and also with the shifter cables and bracket.

If the stuff has been swapped before you might already have a mix of 90 and 91+ parts.

It's not my car. It is a friends car 90 gsx. We put the 95 trans in already linkage bolted up fine. Ok we will check again

Sorry, it's early and I'm at work... but...What do you mean the Linkage? The shifter cables?

If it was a stock 90' car...and you tossed a 95' Trans in... did you switch or modify the arms/mounts? If not, you're likely going to have shifter issues.

Also, if the tcase works... then... by all means give it a shot? But I'm fairly sure the gear ratios are still going to be a bit different. I could be 100% wrong though.

Do you already have the trans in the car with the tcase on and everything hooked up? What have you done so far?
