I was taking off my battery to remove the iac and clean it when i noticed a little rubber boot thing on top of my tranny. It seems to just pop in and out with ease. It is almost directly under my battery tray. What is this? And can i use this to fill my tranny fluid? I am going to be putting new fluid in soon and this seems like a great spot to pour it in. Thanks in advance. Oh and yes i researched it but everyone seems to be talking about a rubber plug on side of tranny by wheel well, not the one im talking about.

i think you are referring to the air breather. all trannies and diffs got em. and yes you can fill the trans there.

Car needs to be on a flat surface; on the manual 5 spd trans there is a bolt marked OIL on the front of the transmission case( faces the bumper) next you twist that off and fill it either with a bolt that sits on top of the trans or the breather hole which ever is easier, personally I fill it off the top under the linkage its a 19mm bolt till it pours out the front OIL NAMED BOLT hole. Bam your trans is filled!
