Dawson Creek,
So I finally have found the time to get my car down to the shop so me and my brother can drop out my tranny with the popping out revers. So six hours later and $800 for the tranny plus shipping from a local autowreckers, $80 for Tranny fluid from Chrysler We go to start it up and it sounds fine. And of course I'm all excited to go for a drive with a good tranny and a new clutch. As we try and go into reverse it just wont go...so it turns out that this tranny is just MESSED! Like amazingly bad shape....First grinds with the clutch in, fourth takes a lot of force to get it in, where fifth should be is third, and where reverse should be fifth is. I know what your thinking, this is messed.

But I have realized now that I am finally a DSMer. Why you ask? Because for the first time after getting my DSM it is seeing its first (and I'm sure not last) session of "down time" ROFL

Shit happens I suppose....I'm going to end up taking appart my first tranny and just fixing it.

I miss driving my car already:cry:

Did you guys properly adjust the clutch and bleed the system? It could be a bad master or slave too ...

Also, it sounds like the shift cables are twisted or improperly installed. I have taken many trannys apart and the way they work makes it physically imposible for 1 rail to move the opposite way you are pulling it. The linkage could be messed up I suppose but I'd check those cables.

I can't help but wonder how you got charged $80.00 for transmission fluid. The manual trans in my NT only holds 2 quarts... They charged you $40.00 a quart and you are not mad? Why was the fluid so high? :dsm:

dudedudedude u need to adjust the shift cables first and u have to use that bracket between the tranny and shift cables that is your problem it sounds like, did u spin the input shaft by hand and go thru the gears and watch the diff spin????????

Just trying to help u out cause it sound like the cables out of adjustment

would you mind sending me a pm about that in some more detail :S

So after removing the supposed "new tranny" and giving it back to the auto wrecker I got my old tranny checked out. After being ripped apart I find out that there is nothing wrong with it WTF . He said that every gear looked like new. After hearing this he tells me that it might be something with my shiftcables. Does this make sense? the reverse popping out because of something wrong with my shift cable.

any feedback would be great
