Resolved transmission locked up

For the 3 months I owned the car it never. Had. Trans fluid. Nor was it mounted to the body of the car. And I these details out during the removal of the transmission

Are you trying to say that you drove the car for 3 months with no oil in the transmission? What do you mean by "nor was it mounted to the body of the car" .

That's exactly what I'm saying. And its exactly what I said. Previous owner did not bolt the transmission to the body mount. It was hanging on by the four trans-engine bolts and by the half shafts.

With no oil at all the transmission would lock up in the first few miles. You didn't drive it with no fluid in it, or else it would of been junk a long time ago. It didn't happen. Do you know what the oil is for, and how many moving parts are inside of the transmission? The thing with the trans mount is a very minor issue compared to having no oil in the transmission.

Yes I do. Which is why it baffles me that nothing came out the first time I took off the drain plug.

So the shop you took it to drained it, or you drained it? Again, if you drive it one with no fluid than it was complete junk at that time. There is nothing to lubricate the bearings and gears inside the transmission with no oil at all in it.

No. I drained it and nothing came out.

I hate thinking about my broken car.

No. I drained it and nothing came out.[DOUBLEPOST=1411870608][/DOUBLEPOST]For the love of f***s sake. I bought the car. Drove it for months. Had clutch trouble and third was grinding. I removed the f***ing plug in my god damn garage and nothing what so ever seeped for the f***ing drain hole then I removed the wheels, undid the axles, the CV halfshafts, and took the damn transmission to a shop. Why did I need to say this three times. This is as f***ing descriptive as I'm getting. Tired and I work tonight.

Hey guy, chill out huh. I am trying to help you and you are being nothing but an asshole. I come on here and help guys like you because i like helping people, nothing is forcing me to help you. If you would just lose your ego or whatever you have and listen to people instead of arguing with people like me , paul, and others in other threads that you might learn something. Again, if you drove the car without oil in the transmission than it was junk that very first time that you drove it. I am not some guy who just read something and guesses at things. I have rebuilt quite a few of these transmissions over the years, and many from all kinds of cars. I know about these things more than you can fathom. I know the in's and out's of these transmissions and what each part does and why it does that. Again, if you drove without fluid it is junk, and was junk, and at this point in time is completely ruined. Go ahead and force some more things, you might fix something. I am done trying to help you, there is no use.

I know your smart. That's why you pissed me off. I feel I clearly stated in two ways that it never had fluid. Yet you kept ignoring what I was saying assuming I wasn't wording it correctly. I'm tired. Now I get to go to a job where my manager is a inconsiderate ass hole to me. Not any one else. I'm probably going to be fired in a month because of him. I'm tired. I absolutely hate talking about my car because it frustrates me that this is all happening because I was a fool to trust the previous owner and this wouldn't have happened if I had just checked every thing.

So the car really hasnt been driven on this tranny? No way the fluid shoud have come out the fill hole at quart and a half.
Why dont you start from the beginjing. Im still confused.[DOUBLEPOST=1411872471][/DOUBLEPOST]I missed the second page. That tranny is done. Go find another.

Bought it last winter. Drove it for months. Needed new clutch. Took out transmission and there WAS NO fluid in the tranny. Shop said it needed new syncros. Shop couldn't find any. I threw it all together and put 1quart and a half and that was it. Now its locked up. And bryanwheat said there was metal in the oil.

Yep your going to need another transmission, I have had one lock up on me going 80 down the interstate on my 60 mile commute to work due to a seal that failed and and leaked badly down the road until a 4 wheel skid to the shoulder. I tore it apart and found a gear seized to the input.

I'd ask if transmissions are easy to work on, but I'm just going to use my next pay check to have it towed and fixed by a shop in the city.

Just an fyi if your getting someone to fix it for you, 90% of the time its more cost effective just to replace the transmission with another used one, due to the time(labor cost to you) to dis-assemble the transmission, inspect find/buy new parts and re-assemble the trans. Now if your getting it rebuilt for performance reasons that's a different story.

Get a working tranny, send it to jacks for a rebuild. You never know what you're dealing with and they dont sell brand new trannys, so a rebuild is the next best thing. No worries, peace of mind and you can eventually up the power and feel easy about shifting at 7k or 8k.
FWIW, after maybe 1k miles my tranny oil looked silver. That was ~500hp, no launches just 2nd through 3rd,maybe 4th pulls. had unknown mileage. It still worked, for the most part, very very well. Even with the metal shaving filled oil. Couldnt shift easily past 6500 though.

i had a shift issue tob was bad to find out one day it worked then it didnt, so i fixed the issue it wasnt going to just go away.

Throw out bearing car ran fine shifted crazy then worked fine later it just stopped shifting so anything can be ok now and have issues later replace whats in dobut sounds like the trans is shot, taking mine to tre for a rebuild in the morning, jons great and always does a good job on my stuff.

You're grasping at strings here. You know the trans has been ran without oil, you know it has intermittent issues, you know it locks up, you know there's metal in the fluid you just drained out. If it is working now, it's going to stop working later. Hopefully not while you're going down the highway at high speeds. Take it out, source another trans, throw it back in with fluid in it, and stop whining like a teenager. Everybody has jobs they don't want to do.

I'm not whining. Its just. I need this car for work. So...well since draining it fixed my problem. I was gonna not put fluid back in and drive till....death does it part? Or since I work 10 miles away down a 60 mph road should I just put fluid back in then drive it. Yes yes. I'm working on getting it rebuilt.
