ok so i just got home from getting my 93 talon tsi awd. i hauled it home on a trailer since the shift linkage isnt tight. so my question is how do i figure out how to actually get it tight or adjusted into the proper place so there is no shifting issues.

Wut?

The shift linkage bracket is on top of the transmission...the bolts probably just backed out.

i think you just hook it on and make sure your bushings are still good. then just put the locking pin and your good to go.

Is the linkage loose around the bushings? Or are the cables able to move freely? The cables should be in a bracket. Also I recommend either the the Skate board bearing trick or the CNC aluminium bushings. I went with the aluminium ones, they work great and were an easy fix. Some people have trouble with the bearings being very difficult to set in place.

Either the cables arent in place, the bushings are out like TSIturbo91 said, or your shifter cables are not washer-n-pin'd to the trans, or you could also not be bolted to the firewall. Two 12mm nuts on existing studs on the firewall behind the ecu.

OK so the clips are missing. Have to see if any parts stores have them. And I guess the clutch needs bled but I'm not sure. Its a stage 3 racing clutch and how soon should u feel it ingauge?

Mine was right a way once its adjusted thats it, not in parts stores try dealer or salvage yard i may have some but couldnt find them anytime soon.

With the e-brake set and your foot on the brake pedal you should be able to put the transmission into gear and slowly release the clutch until your rpms start to drop and it starts to grab with the clutch pedal about 2 inches off the floor if I remember right. If yours isn't right you can adjust it by the switch and pedal in the floor boards. There is a very good video on Youtube on how to do so. Goodluck.

there is a bolt on top of the tranny losein it but the wire where it need to be and then bolt it down again u have to play with it to find the right stop or some times your lucky and it has a make from where it was befor they took it off
