Shift Linkage

I just bought a 90' TSi Talon AWD. The trans was bad so I got a 91' trans from

someone I knew and everything worked great after I swapped the tcase output

shafts. My original shift linkage was also bad so I acquired the shift linkage that

was used in the car that the 91' trans came out of. I hooked that up inside the car

but when I went to bolt the bracket for the linkage to the transmission, I noticed

that the bracket was different than the original. I swapped the bracket and the

linkages are still far too long. So, long story short. 91' AWD trans in a 90' AWD car,

what year shift linkage should I use or do I have to modify something?

I believe that you need the shift linkage, trans, and shifter assembly from a 91+ everything to work correctly in the 90. Wiseman please verify that this is true!

Use the whole shifter assembly (including base) and the linkage out of the 91. Also use the 91 bracket.

Best to keep it all the same year. 91 Transmission with all 91 accessories.
