I am doing work on a 2g, 98 awd.
I poped the tranny open and at least one bearing is screwed, and horribly pitted the one shaft.

I have done an internals swap from a 93 into a 95 before.
Is there any difference with the 97-99. I thought the final drive is different or something?

Anyways, I have found a redone 23 spline Jackstranny that is being sold for at a reasonable price that was for a 93.

The owner wants his car on the road quite soon. If we buy this, will there be any problems swapping the gear shafts into his 1998 tranny, as I did with a 95?

Thanks

You can swap all the parts from any of the 5spd AWD DSM transmissions. I have all the 90 internals in mine. There are some differences, but as long as you pay attention to the details, everything works out just fine.

The front diff & transfercase gear ratios are slightly different in the 97-99 transmissions. So match the front diff and t-case and you'll be fine.

shouldnt be a problem as long as you yous his front diff from the 98. The 97-99 front diff have a 58 tooth count so you will need to use that to match up to his transfercase.
