transmission axle input shaft issue what is it?

hi guys i have a serrious problem here, i need help trying to figgure out how to fix and what this is blocking my driver side axle input shaft? Appears to be some kind of steal rod i dont reallly know what it is. But its in the way and not allowing me to pop my axle all the way in....this is a fwd trans from a 1997 eagle talon tsi thanks for the help any will be appreciated

That rod is normal the axle should not hit it your probably just not getting the c-clip in on a new axle you have to really knock it in

Correct, the pin is normal. That is what the spider gears ride on. As said, your problem is likely the lock ring on the end of the shaft. It is either deformed, or you are not applying enough force to get the axle in.
