I think I have a blown t25 or sum thing, cause it seems like it takes forever to spool. In any gear, if I floor the car at just about any rpm it takes 2 seconds or so to spool. I am in the market for an upgraded turbo, particularly the 50 trim and I was wondering if you guys with the 50 trims might share your experiences with your own 50 trims. Not too worried about lag or any thing, just transient response, thanks

Chris

I don't have any experience with a 50 trim, but you'll need alot of supporting mods first.

picking up turbo, front mount, dsmlink, injectors, aero fpr, and some other nic nacs to keep her runnnning smooth :thumb:

So far I think I am looking at either the PTE GT32E from this site

http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com/turboparts.shtml

or a basic 50 trim from slowboy for 750.

Can't say ive heard much about the gt32e, are they a direct bolt on?

Man those GT's are nice especially the Ball Bearing ones! The standard bolt on models are priced good. I have an AGP RS49 which is a 50 trim and the spool is no different than my EVO was. I definitley need a FMIC.
You'll be happy eith whatever 50 trim youchoose. Good Luck, Mark

Chris,

I have the GT32E from DSMotorsports and I love it so far. I still have some tuning to do and need to get to Turbotrix to dyno the car, but I expect to make at least 350 AWHP. Spool up is slower than my B16G but top end never seems to end. Im only at 18psi now for street tuning and it is fun.. It is a direct bolt on to the exhaust mainifold, but you will need an oil line install kit and new gaskets.

Here it is next to my old 13G.

your motor made my eyes burst into flames...that thing is ridiculously shiny.

Doug,

Yes, still on the stock bottom end. I blew my budget for this yr on the car so next yr the bottom end gets done. The 7.8 compression makes this turbo a little laggy till 3500rpm but after that it's OK. I was planning on going 8.3 comp with either Ross or Weisco pistons and Crower rods. OH well, no bench building for me, i'll just see what my budget allows for next spring and buy the best parts i can afford then..

HAHA, thanks Pat for the kudos on my motor, and that pic was taken when the car wasdirty fron sitting the my shop for 3+ weeks... In the sun it looks even better. Here is what the valve cover looks like outside..

Sweet valve cover dude.

Baer with me I now have a slurry of ???'s

first whut kind of tools did you use to get your valve cover looking so good, or was it simply sent out and chromed?

Second, unless my stuff breaks sooner, me too will be doing the bottom end next year but I will probly be going with a stroker and 9:1 compression. You think this turbo will hold up to the challeng at say 20 psi with the stroker?

And third, I'm an automatic also, did you mean full boost by 3500? Thats cool, most places advertised it wouldn't hit til 3800. I was thinking with a stroker it would come on at a hair over 3k.

one more time for the nice engine bay

Chris,

The valve cover started with just polished lettering, I did that myself with my roto-zip and polishing kit. That came out looking so good that I wanted the rest done. The rest of the cover was done by a guy that polishes parts for motorcycles. The Aluminum in our valve covers is pretty good quality and polishes up very well most of the time. I gave him $75 for the rest of the cover to be done because my Roto-zip would have died before I could have finished..

The GT32E is most efficent(sp) at 21+psi. A stroker motor should improve spool-up big time. I'm planning on tuning for 21psi daily driver and then 25psi for the track till I get the motor built. (ARP studs needed for me over 25psi)

Full Boost: For me right now, it did hit full 18psi by about 3500rpm, I guess. It's hard to watch the boost gauge, tach and the traffic on the road at the same time..LOL
I will say this much, boost starts to build around 2200rpm with my auto, without power braking. This fall after my dyno tuning I'll be getting a Billet TQ converter from IPT to match my power band. Until then, I won't be beating on my stock converter to much, except to find out how fast the car can run the 1320 at Englishtown this fall..

Cool beans man, can't wait. Only 2 more questions i promise :) what kind of tuning devices your using, and type of tranny modifications?

Good time with an auto! I would like an auto AWD but there would have to be someone building one that would take the abuse. i fried an auto in my turbo Conquest 15k miles after a full rebuild, just too small for the torque. Yeah great engine bay! mark
