I will be ordering extremepsi's PTE 50trim in 2 weeks. I am on a budget however and would rather not have to dump an extra $1000+ for a FMIC kit. I don't plan on running extremely high boost at first, probably only 10lbs, 15lbs at the very most. I already have upgraded injectors, logger, safc2, etc. My bottom end is totally stock, but I think it should be able to take it as long as I don't try anything stupid (like 25 psi). MY QUESTION is, has anyone successfully ran a 50 trim through a 1G sidemount? Is there way too much knock? I am not sure if this is a good or not, maybe the air from this kind of turbo is alot hotter than from a mitsu turbo and needs cooling? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

it's not so much an issue of the size of the turbo that determines how hot the charge will be (unless the turbo is way out of efficiency range) but how much psi. It is the actual compression of the air which causes the air to heat on a molecular level. More psi = more heat.

However the sidemount is definatly hindering the 50 trims flow capabiliteis.

Why would you buy a nice, big, expensive turbo and then run 10 or 15 psi? If you're going to run that low boost, use a 14b or a 16g or something.

I stongly debated this also when I purchased my GT3255.... I bought the FMIC, no point in upgrading and doing the custom pipe for the 50-trim and then only running 12psi or so. Just like Kyle's saying, why buy that nice turbo and run it that low? I would say buy the turbo, but put it on when you get your FMIC so you can see what she can really do. :thumb:

Mack, did you get that gt3255 installed yet??? Mine is being put on this week and I'm curious as to how it will pull. I just can't wait till i get the car back on Fri.

Hmmmm maybe I should just a EVO 16G and a front mount from SBR? That way I'm not shelling out all the huge bucks for the 50 trim, but I can prepared to switch in the near future. Right now I'm trying to upgrade my suspension as well so I can't afford to dump everything into power.
