my transfer case seized up and my car is sitting at the garage. he called Chrysler and they said that the recall doesn't cover the year or somethin to that affect. my impression was that they are replaced on all models and years if it was due to a leak (which it was). anyone got more info to help me out, or some place that i can call??

thank you

kyle

talk to a diffrent dealer check the faq i forgot what year the recalls were but if it's your year they should perform the recall. somtimes they say it can only be done once, but it's bs. i had to call three dealers befor they honered the recall. good luck :|

well i am getting somewhere right now, the car was picked up by chrysler and they are going to take a look at it to make sure it was a leak that caused it to break. i had to call this number to get anywhere....1-800-992-1997 they gave me a reference number and i used that when talking to the dealer. so hopefully it will be fixed completely.

well Chrysler will not do the recall because the car has mods on it. personally i think it's bs. because non of the mods are real extensive nor would they have caused the t-case to leak and lock.

Try NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236. At this point they are your best hope of trying to get this resolved under the receall.

i got some stupid lady that did not understand that there is already a safety recall on my car and all she wanted to do was file a complaint for me. when i asked her what the complaint would do for me, she said that if there's problems with other cars like it, they'll issue a recall. so she got me absolutely nowhere. i did make a few more cars and i found out that the powertrain warranty on the car was voided back in 1996 due to mods. but in 2001, the recall on the t-case was preformed because it was leaking. so if they did it back in 2001, why can't they do it now? im tryin to use that as a loop hole and see if it gets me anywhere. thanx for the help, anymore will be greatly appreciated!

-cough- -cough- take it to another chrystler dealer, but in reality call chrystler corporate and explain the lifetime recall and the refusal of your local dealership to resolve the issue, followed by an explanation that a failure to resolve the issue in a timely manner in accordance with the recall, will result in your contacting nhtsa.

i've made so many freakin calls and this is the third place my car has been at, so im not in the mood to pay anymore towing bills. word from the dealer is that their district manage won't give them permission to do it and no one can override his decision at the dealership. they are not allowed to give me his name or number either. and they said that he refusses to speak to me. so i guess all i can do is file a complaint?

As I stated in my previous post, let them know that your dealership refuses to perform mandatory recall work on your vehicle and if the situation isn't resolved to your satisfaction that you will be contacting nhtsa and a lawyer.

It may well be true that the district manager won't authorize the work ( ). If that is true then no, no one at the dealership is going to override him. His corporate office can.

Very sorry to hear about your trouble. The service manager I dealt with initially got some static from Chrysler out here as well, but he leaned on them a little and they caved. It may be a matter of finding the right person there to deal with.

I wish I had more for you.

i appreciate all the help and info. On monday i will be calling chrysler corporate and see if they won't handle the district ###. as of right now, i need my car so i am getting the warranty that came with the car to cover most of the fees. i still have to pay out a little, but i will work chrysler for a refund of what i have to fork out. hopefully if this ever happens again, they will do the recall work. thanx again!!
