ok guys i an trying to figure out which transmission fluid to go with on a DAILY DRIVEN GSX. trying to aid a first gear popping out problem.

I have read MOST of the fluid threads.
e.g: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/131157-transmission-fluid-use.html

I see that ALOT of people reccomend RedlineMT-90 but its not available locally really.
Mitsu Evomr 6spd Fluid can probably be obtained at the dealerships but its around $70 apparently!!

I also see products like GM synchromesh, Penzoil synchromesh, BG synchro ect... being highly reccomended by everyone but MOST big transmission builders (Jacks, TRE, ect...) DONT reccomend it.
eg: Oil – Jacks Transmissions LLC
Recommended Transmission Oils- Team Rip Engineering

i can get synchromesh locally but it supposablly not good (even though highly reccomended)

so my question is : What can i put in my transmission that is the BEST for a daily, AND i can get locally?????

You might be able to get away with BG synchroshift on a stock power DSM, but if your making more power then stock I wouldn't recommend it (too thin) & even at stock levels, I'd look elsewhere as their are much better choices.

MT-90 & Mitsu DiaQueen can be had from many DSM vendors (eg, think Jacks can sell & ship you either & the Mitsu fluid will likely be much less then the dealer)

I'd use Pennzoil Synchromesh on a DD if it were stock. This is what I will be doing for my 1g DD Beater.

A fair amount of people seem to agree even today when I researched on this board. I am with the others though, fluid will probably not have an effect on the popout.

Diaqueen, MT-85, or MT-90. The popping out problem can not be fixed by changing the fluid.
I'm with Colt, a fluid change won't fix a broken transmission. Get it fixed, dump in some MT-90 and be happy with life.
someone in my other thread suggested it becuase the ger popping mostly happens when driving after awhile.... atleast it seems. Honestly im willing to try all the basic stuff BEFORE it comes to pulling out the trans.

i think i may try the Pennzoil

This should give you a little information on fuilds in your trans. Oil – Jacks Transmissions LLC i'd stick with mitsu fuild
HAHA i posted that link already in the original post! it was one of my stated sources! ^^^^ see above

If it is popping out of 1st gear then the bell housing side bearing on the intermediate cluster is very worn, this is very common on 2g transmissions.

Feel free to try it. My goal with the Pennzoil is that I want the lightest possible fluid that I could find where a fair amount of people here in 2013 will still agree is ok.

My other goal is fuel economy and drag reduction. Now I have heard that Pennzoil breaks down rather quickly. It does have me second guessing things. My other alternative for very thin fluid would be straight MTL since it would still be thicker than Synchromesh.

I don't think that you will find the bandaid you are looking for, but if you insist on pursuing this (as I often do just to learn for myself if it isn't a BIG deal) I'd probably run the cheapest stuff that is still "mainstream" around here.

I don't see why this is such a debate all the time. All the trans experts agree that redline and OEM are the way to go but everyone still wants to use fluids that are know to be bad for the trans. Just because a bunch of people that have probably never even opened up a trans before say there doing it everyone ignores what the people that work on them everyday say.

I think that there are bunch of people who have also pushed the limits with fluids that can report back and say that nothing happened after "x" amount of time. To me that is still somewhat valid. Not as valid as a teardown, but I can tell whether or not my tranny is still functioning or not when I mess with fluids that I shouldn't technically be messing with.

One can use simple 75w90, or 80w90 and it wont hurt anything .... just that it will needs to be changed every 30k miles .... and it's a bit cheaper.

Cheap Coastal 75w-90 comes to mind as well. I know that a few big dogs here use it.
