So I'm in the process of rebuilding my 236k mile 2.0l na fwd motor and was wondering if i could swap my kf5m221vpkv trans for a f5n33 or if I had to stick with a f5m22 trans. Also I am not sure if I want to turbo it or keep it na if that makes a difference

yes you can do this but there are other changes that may need to happen. Clutch and flywheel is different. Axles may be different also depending on the year of your f5m33. I can't comnment on the backing plate. You will have to check that also.
 
The starter plate is different as well as the flywheel & clutch. Need starter plate pt# MD008892

And look for an early 90's f5m33. I believe 93/94 are larger spline axles and 92 and older are the same spline as non-turbo.

If you are not going to be turboing the car I wouldn't bother with the swap unless you are needing the different gear ratio the the turbo transmission offers. The non-turbo trans will hold up to any type of power an n/a will put out. You'll actually slow the car down with the turbo trans as it has slightly higher gear ratios and the rotating mass is heavier as well as the trans is heavier itself making the car overall weigh more. Not sure what your racing application is. I do circle track where any of these things can be critical.

I posted a gear ratio chart that I have below that I use for calculating what tire size and transmission I want to run in my car based off what track I am running at. It's speed by rpm. I changed the tire diameter to reflect a stock 1G tire (205/55R16)
