I have a 91 awd talon. I bought the car knowing the clutch was bad. Well we took the clutch out and it looked new. Instead of doing the job 2 times I went ahead and installed a new clutchplate, disc, and bearing and sent the flywheel out and had it turned. Reinstalled and what do ya know....Same problem. So after reading I adjusted the clutch both ways... same problem. So someone said the clutch isn't releasing so I put a new hose between the slave and c. master. Same problem. I put a new slave cyl. and c.master and bleed it today to rule it all out. GUESS WHAT>>>>>Same Problem. I can start the car and put it is 1st gear and let the clutch all the way out. to car will make a small jerk but then idle with the clutch released and in first gear.
Rev it up and it will start to engage. Take it out for a drive and dump the clutch from about 2500rpm and you hear a whine then it grabs and smokes the tires after a second on slipping. What could this problem be? I have yet to smell the clutch buring. Can something in the trans do this? I hear no popping.....Just the whine. Please help....Out of things to replace. WTF

Hope this will cause the symptoms I listed. I realize it is problem with the rear wheels not spinning. But I don't know if it is the cause for the slipping condition? Wouldn't it just drive the front like normal or would the diff be trying to put the power to the transfer case since the gears were gone and there is -0- resistance? I will have a new transfer case next week just wanted to know what you guys think.
