i need some help guys...

my car will not go into first gear or reverse when the car is running. i can get it into 2,3,4,5 but only if i slam it pretty hard. i can turn the car off and put it in first then start it with it in gear and it goes. master cylinder looks brand new and is full of fluid. i even tried the pedal adjustment. that helped a little but i had to pull the screw almost all the way out and i still have to slam it into gear. at first i figured the clutch was out, but would the car even move if the clutch was out? im stumped.....i know nothing about transmissions......

any help would be appreciated.......

I would first make sure that your transmission has plenty of fluid in it, then I would check to see if the slave cylinder appears like it is working correctly. If the master and the slave are fine then I can only think of a few things which may or may not be the problem. #1 would be that your synchros are worn and the tranny needs to be rebuilt. #2 would be the pivot ball that the clutch fork rests on is worn down, and #3 and I highy doubt this, would be that there is something wrong w/ the clutch disc. My car was almost impossible to shift after I I accidentally downshifted into too low of a gear and I ripped 1/3rd of my clutch disc off.
