Good day all. I've recently purchased my DSM ( Most like stole it for the price I paid) but I need to replace my 2nd gear syncro's and would like to know where I can get them? I haven't seen any on any of the online stores that I know of. I love building cars and would rather do my own tranny ATM as funds are not their for a RCE or Shep tranny. The tranny feels very solid and doesn't come out of any gear. I put 3 bottles of GM syscromesh fulid in hoping to maybe get some life out of the synco's but they are totally gone so I need to find some. Thanks for any help.

www.partznet.com will have the transmission parts you need. Just give their number a call in the mitsubishi section.

Make sure you give them the vin of the transmission.

www.manualcd.com also has the rebuild manual in the free sample section.

i think it is funny how everyone thinks they can just throw in a set of syncros and everything will be ok
well guess again 90% of the time the sliders and or gears are ground down
so have fun wasting your time

i am seconding that about the slider and other components being worn. there is many more tolerances that play a big role shifting than just synchros, any transmission guy will tell you this

Well I'm planing on buying a RCE tranny when the funds are available or when I find one for a good deal on the net.. As for the sliders and gears... If they are with-in limits they will stay if not then I'll either replace them or I will just get some used tranny if it's cheaper... This is just a bandaid while I'm saving up some cash to get one built... I'm no tranny expert and don't try to play one... I'll let the real pro's handle that... If I can get a few months out of my current tranny for not to much money then I'll do that in the mean time...

I am not trying to start a flame war or anything, but if he and I (I am in the same situation) inspect and mic everything to confirm it is within limits while rebuilding the intermediate shaft, then shim everything out properly why wouldn't this work? If the tranny shifts fine except for in second, and in my case it was apparent my syncros were bad, and when I tore the tranny apart I confirmed my 2nd gear syncros were the problem, why would buying new 1-2nd gear hub & sleeve (+ syncros) and putting everything back together as long as the rest of the parts are within limits work? It really isn't that hard to read the service manual and mic everything out properly. Once again I am not trying to piss you all off I am looking for a straightforward answer, that is based on personal experience and not just hearsay.

And do u really know if a gear is good by looking at it? do u know what the gear is suppost to look like? and what exactly are u micing?
