tranny installation problems HELP

I am (attempting) to re-install my transmission after a clutch swap on my 91 GS-T...but when I get the main input shaft inserted into the clutch and try to rotate the tranny into place, the "fins" on the rear side of the tranny (near the firewall) are hitting on the sub frame/crossmember, and this is preventing me from aligning the bolts into place.. Has anyone else with a 1G experienced this? If so, what can I do to get the tranny lined up again? Any suggestions?

Does no one have this problem ? I have taken my tranny off and on before, and I always have this problem but I can never seem to remember how I eventually get to fit right. Usually after about 3 hours of maneuvering I manage to slip it on. Maybe this problem only pertains to 1G fwd cars?

Its not a really good thing to bump your thread!.

But anyway. I have had the same problem there is no magic cure. The only thing to do is just play with it untill it slides into place. Just remember it came out of there it has to go back. You can try lossening the motor mounts to get more movement. Good luck. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

As far as I know, there's no magic bullet. Just keep moving it around and it will go in. sometimes easy, sometimes not so easy.

Ahhh christ, I was hoping for a magic bullet. Oh well, Maybe I'll try loosening some of the mounts.
