Tranny acting up...

My 1st gen's tranny always has the crappiest time going into 2nd gear when the engine is warm for a bit. I mean, it shifts beautifully when the engine is cold... but once the engine has been warm for a little while, I push in the clutch, try to shift into second and you get the worst sounding grind that you could imagine. Many times I had to look behind myself wondering if my tranny is on the road yet or not. I was wondering what could make it that the tranny can shift nicely in to all gears but second once warm, but shift really nicely when cold?

Mine's just the opposite, hard to shift in the cold and easy once it warms up. Either way most likely the 2nd gear synchro is bad. Replacing snychros requires tearing down the tranny, cheapest route might be to find another tranny for the car. If it does need rebuilt take it to Shepherd, for less than a dealer will charge he'll rebuild it better so you wont have any problems.

i am on the new jersey side of PA... which means shepard ain't really close to me. I might just get it rebuilt and have a new performance clutch and flywheel combo put in there too while I am at it.
