I'm trying to avoid buying a brand new tps sensor at the moment so here is my issue. I have a 90 tsi awd that Im getting ready to finish the build on however i swapped to a non turbo throttle body. I need to swap tps sensors to make this happen. The tps sensor i have is a 4 pin tps sensor from a mid to late 90's mitsubishi. My question is will a 4 pin tps sensor work on my wiring for my 90 tsi and how would I wire it. I know the 90 and 92 tsi's that i own only have 3 pin wiring. Does the sensor need a fourth wire or can it be optional?

The 4th wire is the Throttle open/close switch. Notice that the 2nd generation DSM doesn't have a switch on the left side of the throttle?[/QUOTE

Awesome, Thanks man, so to fully be specific, i swapped a 90 4g63t complete engine into a 94 nt shell and i have both the 90 tps's but is it really necessary to use that switch?

You can simulate the Throttle Closed switch with dsm link.

You don't need that 4th pin to be wired unless you don't have the throttle closed switch.

Even without the 4th pin or a throttle closed switch you might not have any drive-ability issues. I know neither of my 1st gens had functioning throttle closed switches and they ran fine.
