General TPS sensor / idle switch wire

Ok so my issue is that I cannot find another idle switch for my 91 talon turbo throttle body.

I decided to dive into the wiring as most people know there is a difference between 90 / 91-94 and 2g.

I realized that the 90 TPS sensor is 4 wires
Where the green wire- same for 91 is the idle switch. They went back in 95 to the 4 wire TPS with idle switch already included.

My plan is to buy a 4 wire tps and just rewrite the green wire from the idle switch to the new tps sensor.

Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know why this wouldn’t work?

Because the IPS switching and TPS voltage are coupled on a 2G the ECU deals with them differently than a 1G ECU.

And the 1G IPS also acts as the Throttle Stop Screw controlling how far the butterfly closes which sets how much air flows when the BISS, ISC, and FIAV are closed.

That said you would need to adjust the TPS like a 2G so that the IPS switches as the throttle just starts to open and hope the TPS voltages at that point doesn't trip a fault by being to low or confuse the ECU by being too high at idle.

The 90 wiring connector splits the green wire for the IPS out to run to the IPS and has nothing otherwise in common with the 2G TPS. Since your a 91 the 2G TPS would fit on your TB, it won't on a 90.

You can use link to simulate the idle switch based on TPS position worst case scenario.

Yes, DSMLink will let you adjust the TPS voltage scaling too.

I didn't mention those options because DSMLink wasn't mentioned to start with and there's no profile to check.
