closed throttle switch i believe. the above link is correct for a 1G, but for 2G's the procedure is different

Pin 3 is the Idle Position Switch or closed throttle switch as RamenPride called it.
It's what you use to adjust the TPS on a 2G.

Charles's 1G page is a good reference but because of variations in real parts and the sensor voltage at the TPS, adjusting a 1G TPS by resistance isn't very accurate and should be verified by checking to make sure that the TPS voltage is about 0.5v with the throttle closed or about 10% using a datalogger.

I check my TPS today & I was at 3.5K Ohms & .3K Ohms.
I've adjusted it as high as possible, but i'm still only at 4.5K & .5K.

Will that be enough to get by, or should I get a new TPS?

On a 2G that's not how you adjust the TPS. You adjust the TPS on a 2G by where the IPS opens and closes.
