Adjusting TPS by using a logger

Hey,

Quick question. I was under the impression that even when setting a TPS (I replaced one) by logger that you had to unplug the harness from it and adjust it until the TPS sensor gets to 10% on the logger. If I unplug it the ECU just sees 0, which I figure would happen. If I plug it THEN I can adjust it to 10%. Am I supposed to be waiting until it warms up all the way or some other trick? Or am I in the right by plugging the harness in while adjusting?

Just leave the tps plugged in, adjust it to 10-11% according to logger.
Then check that it goes to 100% when you push throttle all the way open.

But don't change the TPS if it doesn't read 100%. That's a mechanical issue not a TPS issue.

Jott, You can't use the SAFC. It scales it's readings based on what voltages it's seen. You need to use a datalogger that gives absolute values or use the voltage like specified in the FSM. That means measuring resistance is out too.

My logger, showed of 98% and gave me a cel, then the car sputters like it doesnt want to go, where should it be at when im driving.

On a 1G, somewhere between 10% and 100% depending on where your foot is.

Go read the CEL and see what the ECU is trying to tell you.
 
The range of a 1G TPS at idle is 9-11%, or .45 to .55 volts. As Steve said, you can't use the AFC, except if you go into the screen that shows the sensor voltages. The AFC TPS % is a LEARNED value, not absolute. If your TPS never goes higher than 50%, the AFC calls that 100%, because its the highest voltage it has seen. :(
