Hi everyone, I just bought this 97 GST from a guy that just put a 16g evo turbo onto a new 6bolt swap with evo forged pistons and rods nto 2g body said it was running rich because when he put the new o2 housing in couldnt get the old o2 sensor out. well i put a new front o2 sensor in and it is still running super super rich, he has the system running uncirculated, im wondering if it would run better if it was circulated??? also it has 550 injectors and a 255 fuel pump. not showing any codes showed o2 code when i bought it. drove it like 2 miles to my house and it was the most smoke ive ever seen. sorry no pic of that :) when i get her started i will post one :) i checked all my vacuum lines and everything else just to make sure.

ok that was my first dilemna now i have a new issue, he said he thought the starter needed to be replaced so i picked up a new starter because there was a grinding sound upon trying to start it. so i replaced the starter it is very secure. as you can see in the pictures the starter is still not fully engaging the flywheel, just grabbing the corner or so, i talked to him about it and said o yea there is a stripped bolt at the flywheel i believe it is a torque converter bolt there are only 4 of them and 1 of them is missing. i dont know if this would cause this or not. i have super searched the internet but i need your help. I am dedicated to doing the work myself and getting her road worthy again. i dont know if i can shim the starter or if that wouldnt even help or if that one missing bolt is throwing the meshing of the starter and flywheel off? well i look forward to your input and assistance. thanks in advance

well my starter did the same thing. Make sure all your trans bolts are there. I was missing some so my trans pulled away from the motor.

i just went out and checked the tranny and engine the are securely fastened to each other as far as i can see underneath. i see there is a thin plate of metal between them where they sandwich together any other thoughts? anyone ? thanks

wrong starter maybe you got the 5spd starter and you need the automatic. it is an automatic right? and that one bolt missng is kinda sketch to say the least i would take the tranny out and fix that. i wouldnt want to be driving around with on bolt missing from my torque converter.

and its running rich because it needs to be tuned. theres to much fuel going into the engine and most likely you just need a tune. or maybe it good have a boost leak so do a boost leak test

yea that makes sense i didnt think of it being a starter for a manual transmission and yes mine is an automatic. makes a difference? i can thank autozone on that one :) if its the case that would be a great fix, yea i pulled couple of the other bolts like the one that was missing on the flywheel and the threads are kinda mushroomed as well so i think i will replace all those bolts. i can get more pics if need be :) getting good at swapping starters :)

For Self Assurance are you positive that manual and automatic take different starters and cause this prob? thanks man i just want to make sure before i run back and remove it and bring it back for a starter for an automatic. they didnt even ask me i figured they were universal

Ok THis is what i have done since last on here searching for answers, I have dropped the auto Transmission and installed high stall Torque converter from IPT and while i had it out i put in the translab shift kit as well.

Well now i just got it all back together and UNFORTUNATELY its doing the same thing , starter motor is barely knicking the ring gear on the end of the torque converter.

WTF im so clueless at this point and i dont want to do any chopping or fabricating if i dont have to , i need to get the starter to come down some so it will fully engage the teeth on the RING gear.

the tranny i have is the f4a33 and the engine i have is the 7 bolt based off of the design of the oilpan is how i identified it.

i have tried new starters and even a 1g starter. im lost so any input is appreciated. thanks guys
