This my first post so don't flame me or anything but...Ordered the topline rebuild kit off of SBR and I haven't heard anything good about their oil pumps :toobad: ....so would it be best to put my oem one back in or put the topline in? The car has around 120,000 on engine I think, the car was stolen and had blown motor(brick propped up on the accelerator :notgood: ) and the previous owner replaced it.
BTW Its an 1991 Eagle Talon Tsi 177,000 on the odometer
Thanks

There are many posts about this subject. But from what i've seen there are more people who choose oem oil pumps than topline. As long as you lube up the gears before you try and run it you should be fine. Just for fyi i got an oem pump. :dsm:

put in the topline, do not use your 120k mile pump.. i used a topline pump with no issues

Well it had good oil pressure before I tore it down. I was just wondering how many people actually had experience with topline oil pumps becuase the posts I found were "My friends car went out at 7k.." or "My brothers friend's brother in law had it go out" I'll put it in if it goes out I'll catch it and buy an oem. Any other experiances?
Thanks for the replies

Just get a good oil pressure gauge and watch it like a hawk. My cars pump has 136K on it and still going, just lube it up with a bunch of grease first.

Look if you don't want to put in the topline then go oem, if you want to put in the topline then do that, but i honestly wouldn't put my old oil pump on after a rebuild. Thats just asking for trouble later down the road. Im not saying that people don't get a lot of miles before the original goes bad, its just that you are rebuilding your motor... why not use new parts?
Just my .02

edit: sorry for the two posts.
