.010 is a good bit to cut off a head.

Did they measure it for thickness?

They did not measure it, also maybe it wasn't .10, I'll have to call the guy and ask again. I do remember him saying it wasn't that much but to do it just to play it safe.

.010 is not too much to most shops.

Keep in mind tho, that the FSM says .008 combined total from the block and head. Area says .015 from the head.

Plus due to the age of the head, it may have been milled before.
