Hi i found a guy out side of OK city that has a AWD dyno and can tune car's good on E85 so i was wondering should i have him tune my DSM on 91 octain or E85? My friend said with E85 u can get more boost i could do like 30 PSI on E85 and he said it burns cleaner and better for the motor! (i heard other wise that e85 was bad for motors but i dont know)

My 1997 gsx has a

2.4 stroker
rebuilt stage 3 jacks tranmission
i know its got a 50 trim turbo but no clue what brand or type it is i will get a pic of it
and i belive it has all the fuel mods and wally fuel pump
and also has DSM link. I have not did no mods to the car beside the getting the transmission.

And last on the E85 do u have to install something extra on the car to make it run e85? im all new to this stuff.

I noticed your from tulsa! you getting yours tuned in OK city by rebelracieing as well? if so let me know the outcome and what setup you have on your talon.

I would never run any fuel other than e85 again in a dsm. Ethanol has been out way before our cars where made to who ever said the didnt make ethonal then. I made at least a 100whp difference just swapping from 91 to e85 and a lot more aggressive tune.

Ok e85 it is then :) But one ? what happens if i ever forgot to put e85 in it as im so use to useing gas?

Also any where to get some 1000cc's that wont break my pockets? I dont know about buying off ebay.

I think my are 660cc thats what it says on the paper work i got from the guy i bought it from. So i will need to upgrade them? I would like to see 400 hp if i can get it there.

The 660's will only be good for around 350awhp (dynojet) on E85. I'm running 750's. If you are going to be buying new ones, you might as well get something around 1000's as different sizes don't cost much different.

You have to tune for either E85 or Gas, so you have to make a choice on what to run and stick with it unless you have a way to do map switching or want to mess with it on your laptop at the gas station.

Advanced Fuel Injection had a sale posted on here. They have pretty nice prices.

Ok i will try to keep it on full all the time so i dont forgot to use e85. Also i heard it evaporates quickly is this ture? I hate to have a full tank of e85 and not drive my car for a week or 2 and then get it and its only a half tank left.

E85 all the way. Also I live here in Edmond, OK and have owned a few DSM's. To give you in est. on how awesome E85 is I took .5 sec off my 1/4 time from switching from 91 w/ meth injection to E85 and it will be more than that i just ran out of fuel! You will def need atleast 1000cc injectors.. I maxed mine out so had to get even larger ones

Im going to try my best to goto pinks all out in tulsa i think its oct 19th and 20th

Sweet I would, but I am still broke from Tulsa IFO. I should have placed 2nd(and won money) in my class, but when you bog a launch(because you hadnt even hit the 2 step) and miss a gear in the same run you dont deserved to win (I hate pro tree):notgood:

I got ahold of able raceing today they said i dont need a FPR all i need was bigger injecters which there saleing me a set of 1500cc for $325 and thats all i need sence i got the wally 255 and dsm link alrdy. He said i can probly do about 500hp with my setup then i would have to get another fuel pump i guess a bigger one but i would be happy with 400 hp on my car :). I just dont want them to blow my motor up so i rather not push it to the max just to be on the safe side.

One more thing, I would suggest running one full tank of E85 through and then replacing your fuel filter. The ethanol likes to break away/mix up all the crap thats settled at the bottom of the gas tank. After one tankfull, all that crap should be out and clogging up the filter so a replacement should make sure your fuel flow stays where it should be.

Also if you go to the dsmchips websight, jeff can burn you a dual image chip. It will allow you to run e85 on one setting and switch back to pump gas on the other. I was thinking of doing the same. That way if I'm ever traveling or can't find an e85 station I can just press a button and fill up with premium.

Ok i got my car tuned at abelraceing but im going to need a few more things before doing e85! right now my car is doing 318hp on stock cams and intake which they said e85 wouldnt do much unless i get bigger cams and intake! they said i should be able to get close to 500hp if i can upgrade the cams and intake and do e85 or 400+ on 91 octane.

When i went there it first dyno at 200 hp and they was able to get it at 318 hp!

They told me to go with fp2 cams and manguas intake so my ? is which sould i buy first the Cams or intake? and is it safe to buy used cams off these fourms or go with new ones?

heres what im going to buy if i go with e85

1 New Cams
2. Air Intake
3. Another wally 255 i got to have 2 fuel pumps going if makeing 500+ hp
4. Injecters

I'm pretty damn sure you NEED an AFPR when running anything over a 190 fuel pump. It over runs your stock one. Why would you spend all that money everywhere else but skimp on the last part??? :barf:

Also, I would update your profile. Because if it is up to date... your never going to make 500 hp with that setup.

Not saying cams and intake wouldn't help U out, but there are plenty of folks making well over 400HP on the OEM intake and cams.

How much boost are U running? How much HP do you want to make?

Going to e85 alone would allow you to run alot more boost and timing. I'd go with a larger turbo if you had high HP goals. Also, I'd keep your fuel system and add an alcohol injection kit. This is alot cheaper and would allow U to run more timing and boost. Then buy cams, then an intake.

Right now the car is doing 25 psi max and it dosent hit full boost till 5 grand then i got to shift so i dont have much fun time till i got to shift gears. I need it boosting as soon as i hit the gas! its got major boost lag right now cause of the 50 trim turbo.

I would be happy with 400hp but my goal would be 500hp

Also they had something i never seen before at able raceing! they have a 3g eclipse spider with a 4g63t motor in it LOL i cant belive they got it to work but sure enough they did.

I think i will go with gas it seems like alot of BS to become e85 friendly LOL

sence i got the transmission to stop leaking i now have a water pump that is about to take a dump on me. Its rattleing real loud! worse by the day im going to leave it parked till i get it fixed. As far as i can tell u dont have to mess with timming when doing a waterpump on the 4g63s unlike the N/T u have to pull the timeing belt to replace the pump.

you cant change a water pump on 4g63t without taking off the timing belt. ITS A FACT.

good luck

Yeah i alrdy changed the water pump. wasnt to bad i used vise grips to hold the belt to the cams so they wouldnt move out of time :thumb:

also marked everything with a marker as well. If its one thing i learned over the years of working on cars/trucks if its going to move out of spot when u take it off always mark it first.
