I could try and keep trying for a laser rs turbo for 400 bucks off this site. Or i can get a tsi with 185xxx.......dosent run its a 91. The kid says he snapped the timing belt trying to rip off the valves cover because it ticked. I beleive its the lifters like a lot od the dsm's have. He says he cut it a little and then just snapped it off. The frount struts are out and need to be replaced and other then that no mods have been done to it. The RS has 151XXX and burns oil but is a 90. Is there anything i should do really. He says he will take 800 for it. Should i ask any questions or do you guys have any for me. It looked fine. The tranny was rebuilt but i had a problem shifting it into reverse and he said that it feels like mollasses when its not running for a while but that stickyness goes away SOOOn as its started(the TSI). Anyone ever have that crap happen. Any feed back needed.
 
Me personally would go for the Tsi as long as what he said about the timing belt is actually what happend to it and it didn't snap while it was running. I am just partial to The 90/91 Talons one sexy car.
 
Um, you don't need to do anything with the timing belt to take off the valve cover. My money is on the timing belt snapped while the car was running.
 
thats what i said. Why would you need to take of the valve cover. He replys because it had a loud ticking. So i say you dont need to get near the vavle cover with any sharp object to get that off. It looked ripped but then again the belt looked brand new. If it went through crank walk what exactly happens to the motor. Is it usually junk after that or really expensive to fix. Now i have a family mechanic that can look at it for me. Do you think he will be able to tell me a lot more about it or if it really did rip and break.
