I have been looking for a 1st gen for a while, and since I already have a winter car, an AWD is not a MUST for me. This car seems to be a good price for what I'm paying for. I have not gone and looked at the car yet, but I am planning to do so. The info on the car is in the link.

1g DSM 2500 or best offer, possible trade

After sending him an email to find more about the engine, he replied:
The car has 158,000 miles on it.... the engine has less than 30k on it since it was rebuilt.... within the last 200 miles it has also gotten a new act clutch setup, wheels and tires, head gasket, the head was also decked and ported and polished, it has a big 16g turbo on it

I would like some feedback from anyone willing to help me make a decision.

Thank you, also I was wondering if anyone would know approximately how much horsepower is she putting to the ground? He said it ran a 12.6..

If you flash 2 grand in front of his face, I'd bet he would take it..

I paid $1400 for mine with the same size turbo..and now it has over 175k miles on it with the freeway driving that I do.

Take it to a strip and do the timeslip thingey on it. Then, you'll definitely find out. .. but to throw a dart on the wall, I'd say over 300hp..

One of my friends got his 90 Laser RS Turbo FWD for $1200, with under 80,000 miles. Then again that was a real steal, but all in all that car looks pretty clean. I agree with DSM1G90, flash $2k in front of him and he'll probably take it (and if it's as clean as it looks, it's worth that, to me anyway).

Hard to tell without looking at it in person. When you go to see it, take someone with you if you can to help you check it out. Any problems that you find you can then deal on the price based on that ie: Say the car's alternator light is on, it's better to assume the car will need an alternator and base the price off of that, than for the owner to say it's just a loose belt and take his word for it. If it needs an alternator then you've priced it accordingly but if it just needs the belt tightened then better for you. If it is in good shape $2K would be reasonable.
