Lasalle,
Currently my tires are stock size and Falken rates thier diameter at 24.7 inches. I'm trying to decide if an overall taller tire or shorter tire is better. Shorter so I can get into 4th sooner which is good, but taller so that it's better in lower gears.

Anyone have any suggestions?

a 24" tire will take you to 33 mph at 7k in 1st gear, 60 at 7k in 2nd, 91 at 7k in 3rd, and 114 at 7k in 4th.

a 26" tire will take you to 36 at 7k in 1st, 65 at 7k in 2nd, 99 at 7k in 3rd, and 124 at 7k in 4th.

so you decide if you want to go larger or smaller. right now a 24.7" tire (your size does the follwing at 7k in each gear)
34 in 1st, 62 in 2nd, 94 in 3rd, and 118 in 4th.

any other tire sizes you want to know let me know and ill get the speeds. also if you want the speeds at any rpm let me know

That's some good info and gives me something to go on. THANKS! :thumb:

From looking at that I'd assume that a larger tire is better correct? Does anyone have an actual recomendations or experiances they could share with differant tire sizes?

Since you are AWD I would say a larger tire would be better so you can stay in first gear longer, now granted it may only be a couple mph different. Though since you are awd having a smaller tire may help you put a little more power down in the higher gears at higher speeds.

If you were running slicks, then you have to take into account that the tire "grows" a little but if your just running street tires then there is really not much growth if any.

i dont have any personal experience with using different tire sizes for drag racing. Though if you have a bigger sidewall its supposed to help with launching as it lets the tire squish a little, not sure how to explain that properly, where as with say 18" wheels and a smaller sidewall, they would be easier to spin (i know this personally from launching under no boost and breaking my 4 tires loose)

Yeh I know all about the benefits of a decent sizewall. I've traded tires with my friend, his are 245/45/17 and are about 26" tall, they have smaller sidewalls and corner noticably better but it still has a decent sized wall for racing.

If I get to a track with them ill post my results.
