What tire size is best used for drag racing on 17 X 7 rims with a 40mm offset? I was thinking about going with 235 45 17 to get a little bulge but still have enough for good street cornering... I currently run 225 50 16s on my stock talon swirlies so I'm used to a little tire roll after 50mph around corners. Would 235 40 17s be better for cornering ? Or would 235 45 17s be better for a Good launching street car? I kinda want good cornering and 1.6 60 foots LOL don't know if thats possible.. Wisemen please Help me out

Ok to make this easier then, Should I go with a 235 40 17 tire or a 235 45 17 Tire? Right Now I've noticed the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 only come in 235 40 17 while as the
Kumho Mx come in the 235 45 17...

Omg that would stick out like a mofo, monkey i ran 225/45 Falken rt-215, they NEVER didnt do what I wanted them too. They never mad a noise either. Some people can fit 235/45, not sure how because I definitly rub on stock suspension. If you get a 2mm or 3mm spacer you can fit them and if you want wider thats what I would do.

On spacers incase your interested, I have a few friends that run H&R spacers on various cars and have no complaint. However 2mm you will be able to get away with not having longer wheel studs with those wheels, but 3mm I would look into it.

Hey thanks for the reply, Did you rub on the Knuckle or on the fender? I might get some Hubcentric rings. Do you think with a 2mm ring I could fit 235s on there?

when i ran 235 i rubbed on the knuckle, 225/45 were no prob at all. By the way I shipped the wheels with 4 hub rings:thumb:

I'm on a 38mm offset and i'm running 235/45 17 no rubbing but i've got like 2mm left

Drag racing on low profile tire is not a good Idea. Try to stay away from big rims, low profile tires, and stiff side walls.
