Tire clearance with coilovers (drag)

This may be a long shot, but I'm looking for some info on how much tire clearance is to be gained on the front of a 1G when adding coilovers. Going to be running a Hoosier 26x8.5 Drag on a 15x8.

Issue is it looks like we might see issues with the tire hitting the spring perch on a traditional style strut. With the coilover springs being much smaller diameter and having a smaller perch we hope to alleviate this issue. Pics of those running a similar setup would be awesome but just some general info works too.

We were running a Hoosier 26x8 QTP on a 16x8 Rota and it has around 1/4"-1/2" of clearance now. Ill snap a pic of what I am referring to when I can.

Search for coilovers that are based on a 2.25" spring, instead of the more-popular 2.5" spring. That will get you the most inside clearance.

When you ask and they say that 2.25" springs don't exist, just walk away. They do; they're just rare. The Koni coilover system uses them, for example.

Know anyone offhand that makes this style for a 1G? Been looking at the HotBits systems but not sure if we have that sort of budget.
