to sum it up, my stock turbo blew but I have another car as a DD. Went to the junkyard and found a unmolested 1998 GSX with 110k :D :hellyeah: . Soo with the little tools I have I went to town,
1. removed all the exhaust manifold bolts except 1 stripped bolt.
2, removed 3 long bolts from exhaust manifold to turbo
3. got pissed and removed the radiator just for clearance
4. some how got all the o2 housing bolts off before I removed radiator LOL
5. couldnt remove oil lines?

soo the car is slammed to the ground I can barely move the o2 housing to the right so it can come off the stud, but what am I missing? is the metal oil line really the only thing holding me back  if so I need some muscles. also to remove the stripped bolt should I just break out the chisel?

IF you can't get that bolt out than remove the manifold with the turbo. You will also need to either unbolt or cut the oil drain, oil supply, water lines and vacuum hoses.

bring a jack or two with you. jack the front end up if you can get them under there then just cut away whatever is holding it back. when you get it back to your garage im sure you can get the rest off.

using a jack is out of the question the rotors are sunk in to the ground. I just looked under my car it is the oil return line + the o2 and hotside stud holding me back. I really did wanna do it the right way and save parts for others but I guess i'll just hack N slash it.

EDIT: I think I am prepared for tomorrow but I will take pics to show you how crappy this turned out, I also wanna toss all my 12 point sockets out the window for stripping it in the first place =(

Man if I found an unmolested '98 GSX in a wrecking yard, I would cancel pretty much any plans for the next day and bring every tool I got. Transfer case, trans', axles, driveshaft, rear diff' oh my! OMG
Maybe even post up a couple of goons to chase off the jackels and hayienas.:sneaky:

That's what I was thinking make money!

There are oil and coolant lines.

Oil return on bottom of turbo is 2 bolts with 10mm heads.
It may be easiest to cut the oil feel line near the turbo.
Coolant lines have soft hose sections. Easily cut with a knife.

You have the hard part done.

If this junkyard were between Lewistown and State College, and if next week wasn't finals week, I'd totally come help you strip parts off that car.

no way I live in lewistown, its actually Parsons auto sale salvage and Rossmans Junkyard which is 1 miles away, each have 1 7-bolt engine with around 100k miles.

but I did check for shaft play and it stiff as a rock. I went there today and got it along with a windshield. Once I cracked the one exhaust manifold bolt and got that out of the way, I was able to bend the the whole thing forward and I removed the other bolt on the oil feed line.

Wait a second....your from Lewistown...which JY you going to?? I was at a couple yesterday. Friend and I made out like a bandit!

LOL this is AJ isnt it? this is chris ROFL
