Tinted out the Eclipse

I had 50% put on the two side windows and 5% put around the back. In Ohio, 50% is legal for the side windows and anything goes for the back. I did get pulled over one night becuase I had my side windows rolled down and all he saw was the back. He tested my side windows and they read 37.2% This is due to stock tinting in the glass that is on the windows i guess. I told him I had them legally done. He said it wasn't to bad and just wanted to let me know I could get cited for it.

My tint man told me that any tint below 20% on your windows show up 0% on a cops meter.

I have 5% all the way around on mine. I mostly drive with the windows down I got them tinted more for security reasons than looks. I have one of those indash computers to tune link with and I don't really feel like loosing it. I always kinda wanted to do like a 75%--- 65% on the windshield to cool down the inside of the car a little bit. I can still however see to back up with the windows up. I think people that can't see when they back up with tint are retarded.

Also andrew I think the average price around here is about 200 cartunes here on the island is like 190 and I think lowcountry window tinting is like 200ish

Tinting your windshield was a stupid move. You are asking to be pulled over. Some cops will let you go for tint, but they will definitly pull you over for a tinted windshield. Also have fun scrapping the glue off its a PITA big time!

BTW you guys are lucky the rule on tint in PA is 70% which is basically factory installed tint only.

$110 for all those windows? Damn that was a good price. Really good price. $150 for the side windows, the small windows and the rear is already a "good" price. But $110 for all of that including the crazyness front windshield!

Damn anyone got a price like that in the Bay Area, CA?

How is that stupid? Askin to get pulled over?? How? You can't even tell the windshield is tinted!!
If I wouldnt have told you, you wouldnt have knew, you would have just thought I had some dark ass side windows.
BTW: Its not hard to take off tint, it takes all of about 5 minutes...

I didn't say it was hard did I? The glue is just a PITA. Any yes I could tell it was tinted I'm not retarded.

Although the safety factor is of concern to me, I could care less about everything else. I think many users on here are not very respectful of others' opinions. Aside from excessive tint reducing driver visibility, who cares what it looks like? The owner likes it, and that is all that matters. Although I am not a huge fan, I can accept the fact that the owner has a different opinion.

As far as everybody feeling the need to tell the owner that it was a stupid move, I agree to an extent. However, I don't think there is any need to rag on him about tickets, fines and so on. He acknowledged in the very beginning of the thread that the car will attract cops, and that he will pay the tickets.

To the O.P.: Glad you like the new look, just try to be as careful as you can when driving at night.

Yeah, uh...your not even making any sense.

And again, tint isnt hard to remove, nor is the glue a "PITA". Like I said earlier it takes all of about 5 minutes to strip the windows, glue and all. If you remove the film properly there won't be much glue at all on the window. What little bit of glue there is, is easliy removed with rubbing alchohol or paint thinner.

Thanks Dan.
Actually you would be suprised at how close to stock the visibility of the windshield is, even at night. Its only 35% so it still looks clear from the inside.

Well written, however:
Tell me what you think!

;)

Some thought differently than the OP, but opinions were shared. :sneaky:

Yet again aren't you always right. You don't have a choice about removing it correctly when a cop tells you to remove it on the spot. Also putting paint thinner/ rubbing alcohol around your car is another stupid idea:toobad:.

Have fun driving your convertible kid just remember, you drive a convertible.
