Tinted windshiel

Buddy had a '99 Silverado with 5% strip and 50% windshield, and what the cops said was 2% front windows and even darker rear windows. Eventually the cops started to pull him over and made him take it off. 50% on the windshield is hardly noticable looking out, just keep it clean!

Uuuhh.... How many of you notice the rainbow/spotting effect when looking through tinted glass with polarized sun/eye glasses? Have fun with that on your windshield.

I would do the entire windshield. However if you black the rest of the car light does not get into the car and it actually makes seeing into your car through the windshield more difficult as if it were tinted. The problem around here is finding someone that will do it. Tinting windshields is a pain in the ass just like doing a back glass with 1 sheet, plus the complications of it being a dsm and having no room in general doesnt help. People normally just say no cause they dont want to deal with attempting it, they just use the its illegal excuse.

I was going to go 30% on my entire front windshield (I've got really good eyesight, and Jacksonville city streets are well lit at night).

But with my smoked & VERY illegal tails, I have to keep cops in front of me, which would allow them to see my windshield.

So I had to pick having smoked tails or tinting my windshield... I kept my tails.

Your car is beautiful, and dont take offense to this but... JUST from judgung from the pictures it looks like you MAY have done your lights with nightshades. I personally do mine with automotive clear and im sure you have seen the difference between the two. I personally think the glossy auto clear look would look much better due to the fact that your car has a decent shine. That being said, your taillights are more than likely NOT illegal. I have been pulled over numerous times in both of my cars for it and upon request the cops will put out " the law book" which reads in most states " Lights must illuminate either a red or amber color" And in another part of the book in which cops never look it states that "Tail lights must be visible from 500 feet away" Which isnt as far as you may think.

Yes, they were done with nightshade, and I agree with you about the clear coat, LOL. They're going to have a coat of professional auto clear done within the next week or so since my car is so shiny, I think it will improve the look of them a lot.

And they are most definately illegal. I've been pulled over 3 times (no tickets though, I'm a girl and get away with everything, haha) and they tell me that from over 500 feet, it looks like I'm driving with my lights off. But if you're right behind me, you can see my brake lights no problem.

Well the good thing with the auto clear/black mix is, if the mix ratio is right you can murder them till they look like the rest of the car and they will show through like its not even there. Just make sure you go to a good shop, ive experimented with different ratios and its hard to explain but some show through better than others even though they look the same on the outside. And yes, im sure your lack of shlong helps immensely with the popo LOL.

EDIT: If your going to have them cleared you may be better off either stripping the nightshade or asking them to do it and spray a black/clear mix in the place of it. Thats what i recomend.

I've got a friend that does paint/body work, and I trust his expert opinion. I'll ask him if he thinks he should just shoot a layer of clear, or if he wants to strip it all down and do a mix of black + clear on there.

As long as it comes out as black as it is now, that's all that matters to me. I like the "murdered" look :)

Ok. The only reason i suggested stripping was theyll show through better. But anyway, back to the op...
