I tried timing my car and found that totally retarded, the best I could get was around 17-20 btdc. I noticed when I set the cams to tdc my crank pulley was a bit counter clockwise from the tdc mark. Is it possible that my valves are slightly bent? Car makes no boost but starts right up. Also lots of ticking but not sure if its the valves or lash adjusters. I am going to check the timing this weekend when I have a chance to pull it apart. Just curious. Thanks.

Alright, tore it open today even though it sprinkled on me for a little bit. Well, what I found was actually a common mistake that is made when people do the timing belts on these engines. The previous owner installed the back plate behind the crank sprocket in the wrong direction. I wont be getting my t-belt tools for another few days, but I will update with the results. I found the problem as soon as I took the cover off. Here's some pics. Also, thanks again for everyone's input.
This was when I first took the cover off, the issue was easy to spot.

The difference when back plate is installed incorrectly vs. correctly.

Got my JayRacing timing belt tool set in yesterday and re-did the timing today. Boy do those tools make the job a breeze. Anyways, the car is running great! Idles nice and smooth. I still need to figure out whats going on with my cooling fan, its not kicking on. But the car makes boost now, pulls really good and barely makes any noise. I guess I was lucky with the valves. Oh, I still need to figure out the brakes also. I think I have a frozen caliper. But its alive again!

Cooling fan three things: 1- relay under the cover under the hood isn't working or just needs to be reseated, or, 2- the sensor down in the radiator isn't working either, or, 3-fuse opened up.

Easy test: motor running-flip the fan switch to first position and kick on the AC button. Both fans should take off.

True -been there and done that with that BS belt sprocket flange plate and wonder why the edge of my T-belt was getting all chewed up: previous owner put the flange plate on backwards.

Good luck and congrats on your find - have fun on the road.
