Timing question. Loud squealing and louder exhaust.

Couldn't really find an answer to this solution.

Just had my timing belt replaced. Everything seemed to be ok. Idles great, vacuum readings are perfect, boosts on time, no hesitation. But, I noticed that in the lower gears, I can hear a squeal as the motor revs up. It doesn't seem to be the accessory belts. It's really more of a whistle/squeal. It's faintly audible in 3rd, and really not audible at all in 4th and 5th.

Second problem, this one seems more timing related than the other. The exhaust is much louder than before as rpms go up. Cruising on the highway, the exhaust has an obnoxiously booming tone to it at high rpms. It happens in every gear. Also, as the rpms go up, I can feel the gas pedal vibrates more than it should.

Any ideas?

The t belt would squeal it would either be a timing pulley, but most likely grease is on your alternator or ac belt. or they were not tightened properly. were the timing pulleys replaced? Also if you didn't set the timing yourself I would recommend you check and see if it was done right, I have seen too many t belts install wrong its just ridiculous.

I think you should check and see if the ac and alternator belts are clean and adjusted properly. I have seen a timing pulley lock up from sitting, but im not sure if they would make noise after installing a new t belt. And next time you get a t-belt kit I would recommend that you get the kit from ebay. you can get a t belt kit with pulleys for about 35 shipped and 85 shipped for a water pump and t belt kit, or 121 shipped for a t belt and tensioner but no water pump.

I made a mistake once and put one of my water pump pulleys on backwards, which caused the alternator belt to be a little crooked and squeal (end eventually break). It's worth a check. Otherwise I would really look into the idler and tensioner pulleys. You don't want those failing on you.
