i know this has been hit and hit again but i can't figure out the timing marks on my 2g 1995 eagle talon tsi

First - do NOT turn the Crank with no TIMING Belt attached, you can bend Valves.
Moving EITHER with no Timing Belt attached you need to be VERY careful or you WILL bend Valves - PERIOD.
Actually, if you align all the timing marks before you take the belt off, then pull the belt the cams will rotate/kick back so all the valves are recessed in the seats so that the pistons wont contact. You can verify this by taking the valve cover off and looking at the valve spring heights/rockers. Or next time when you take the head off take a look at the clearence on the bottem of the head.
No offense but I prefer to give more prudent advice when someone is Timing Cam & Crank with NO Timing Belt attached during an INSTALL - I also disagree that any such Cam Position exists on an Interference oriented, 4 Cylinder, 4 Stroke Motor when #1 CAM is at #1 TDC, & THAT"s the hazard I'm cautioning him about in regards to #2 & #3 during an INSTALL - Thanx for letting us all know you can just cut the Timing Belt & take a Head OFF.
I wasn't trying to let you know that you can just cut the timing belt and take the head off what I was saying with the comment (Or next time when you take the head off take a look at the clearance on the bottom of the head.) is that the next time when the head is off look at the valves when the cams are in a relaxed position all the valves are recessed in the seats and will clear the pistons if the crank is turned independently. All you have to do to verify this while the head is still on is take the valve cover off and look at the retainer/spring heights, rockers, and location of the cam lobes on the rocker.
Let me clarify, if the intake and exhaust cam are timed (dowel pins at 12 and timing marks are in line) then yes the piston will hit the valves when the crank is turned separately.
i need to know whats the best way to get the outside pulley off so i can put the back plate on.. can anyone help me with that
ok all i got all the timing done and i just have to wait on the timing belt tensioner right now. i have a concern though... i put a 1/2 inch drive socket wrench into the bolt on the crankshaft pulley and i can't turn the crank now. It has been sitting for some time so i wonder if i just need to lube the cylinders some how. if i am to try to turn counter clock wise at all i just loosen that bolt. but going clockwise it doesn't want to move. The Cams are aligned so they are not in the way and the balance shaft and all of that turned fine. I wonder if it's due to the transmission being connected and i wonder if by chance it's in gear. Any help would be incredible.anyone i am gonna try some penetrating oil to see if that will help but could it be the trans is in gear?
If it's a manual box and the wheels are on the ground NO the crank will not turn. Pop it out of gear and try again.

Verify that the trans is not in a gear. And if all the timing marks are spot on the engine should rotate with no problems. Be careful if you have resistance when turning the crankshaft. If it is out of time the pistons could be contacting valves and that could be the resistance you are feeling. What process did you use to get the crankshaft timing belt gear off?
