Hello guys. i have a little problem i put a new timing belt on and today i was under the hood and checked the tension and it seemed to have loosened...

i can push the belt down a quaterr inch if not a little more with my finger easy..

think i should pull the cover off and readjust it all and make sure my timing is correct. or this this amount of play ok

thansk in advance

Some belt deflection between the two cam gears is totally normal depending on the engine's position in it's rotation.

Did you set everything to spec when you installed the belt? Did you use an actual tensioner tool and eccentric tool or did you improvise?

yeh i have the tools and used. them i didnt think about the motor postion....

and it was all tensioned properly thats why it worried me a bit

Depending on where the engine stops, the belt can actually look floppy-loose between the cam gears when sitting there. One of the cams can slightly rotate inward from the valve spring pressure, causing this. When you start the engine again, that slack goes away.
