Timing Belt Tensioner Question

I don’t want to sound stupid, but I have no choice on this one. This is my first timing belt job and I know how the A-belt tensioner was installed when I took it off. The two “holes” which are referred to in the TSB on the VFAQ, were in the back. In other words on the engine side where you could not see them. I’m starting to think that this was backwards. Can someone confirm this for me?

The two holes should be facing the fender of the car not the engine block and the lip on the pulley should be on the engine block side. I hope this is what yor are asking for.

Definately backwords. Those hole are for the "special tool" for adjusting it. They need to be facing out,not in.

Thanks for confirming what I “knew” to be right. I would doubt myself as to how the one I took off was on, but I took pictures before I took them off. I bought this motor with unknown miles and installed in my car. Before I did, I took a look at the belts and everything looked good except for the B Belt. Now, I’m thinking a dealer must have replaced the A Belt and not the B belt. I hear this was common among dealers. So I’m left to assume that the dealer installed the tensioner backwards!
