Hey, thought I would post in this section as I"m a newb to this site.

I have a 6-bolt 4g64(or g4cs - I guess. as it is a 6-bolt, I know it is stamped 2.4 on the block) with a 4g63 head turbocharged blah, blah, blah. It has been running quite well for the past few years, I'm about to put a newly built head on it for performance purposes.

So I figured I would put a new tb tensioner etc in. I'm pretty sure when I first put the engine in almost 5 years ago I used the 6-blot tensioner, while I was ordering parts I was advised that I possibly should be using the 7-bolt tensioner with this.(???????). Is it cause they think that I'm running a 7 bolt engine?

I would like confirmation that 6bolt tensioners go with 6bolt blocks and 7bolt tensioners( I hear that there is like 3 different combinations) belong with 7bolt blocks when it comes to 4g64/g4cs blocks and dsm head combo's.

3 tensioners 89-92 6 bolt 92-94 7 bolt 95-99 7 bolt what year block do u have

Yes, except I heard that there were 2 for 2g's - an early 2g and then a later one.
Possibly like how for a few months the 95 awd's came with vented rear rotors - that sort of thing.

I figure that my engine is a g4cs (6-bolt)89-91 sonata's - so yeah I'm guessing the 6bolt, just wanting to sure.

Has anyone used a Sonata tb tensioner(hyundai dealer part)? I only ask cause if it did work, it might be cheaper.
