Timing belt slipped and now want to check valves

My timing belt slipped because my idler pulley exploded, jumped about 15 teeth. Just got done pulling the head. I am wanting to know what I'm looking for. All the valves are closed and nothing looks to be wrong but idk if I need to press the valve springs to open em and inspect em. Or what all should I look for? I'm new to this. Thanks for any help

You need to take the head to a machine shop and they will pull a vacuum on the valves to see if they seal.

After timing slipped, I fixed the timing, but it ran like hell. So the only explanation would have to be the valves right? Should I worry about the machine shop? Or should I just buy a head?

Nothing can be done until you remove the head, and have it checked. Then you will know what you need to buy.

You could perform a leak down or a compression test to see if there is a large variance between the cylinders.

Should of done that. But cylinder head is already off.
