I have a 1992 Talon TSI with some mods. I believe the timing belt because of the noise and now I have no compression on the first cylinder. I never checked the other cylinders I just assumed it was time for a head rebuild. I was wondering how much does it cost to replace the timing belt and tensior along with rebuilding the head myself? Any ideas. The head is ported and polished from what I know. I believe it has a 3 angle valve job. What normally has to be done when valves are bent?

Let me see. I have done this quite a few times. I think a timing set cost me between $80 and $110 from O'rileys, I dont remember exactly. The HG set was around $100 I think. IF it jumped timing, you should just need to replace the valves themselves. If I were you, I would take the head to a shop and have the resurface it and check it for cracks. Always a good thing to do while it is off. I just got finished doing a head job on my 93 talon tsi about 3 months ago, make sure you dont over tighten the oil feed bolt in the head like I did, or you will have a longer wait while you helicoil it. Good luck with it.
