After doing a massive search, I would feel more comfortable getting these answers. I installed my timing belt yesterday but am concerned about it since there is slack in one part of the belt.
I do not have the special tool, I used a c-clamp to compress the piston. So without the special tool, is this the steps I must take to get it right?
1)compress and bolt the tensioner up,
2)adjust the tensioner pulley to the tightest position(two holes to the left or upper position of the bolt) and tighten,
3)then release the auto. tensioner,
4)and rotate the motor 6 times?
What about the part of the belt that will have a little bit off slack?
I understand that the exhaust cam needs to be off one tooth, but which way? Does it need to be up and counterclockwise one tooth?
Instead of compressing the piston on the tensioner, has anyone just pulled up on the tensioner arm and bolted the auto. tensioner with it extended then released the tensioner arm?
Sorry about the common questions, I just WANT to make sure I do this right. Please reply as soon as possible as I will be ripping the timing stuff off tomorrow.
