Timing belt change - required parts

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

For that $, those parts must be extra special.

If you are running the balance belt, you will want the parts to change that out. Also, while you are in there inspect your other belts too. Some people will tell you to change you water pump since you are in there.

Water pump. Better safe than sorry and if it goes bad you'll have to take all of that stuff off again just to replace it.

Here is what all I changed when I did my 60k:

Balance Shaft Belt
Timing Belt
Timing Belt Idler Pulley
Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley
Balance Belt Tensioner
Timing Belt Tensioner
Water Pump
A/C Belt
Power Steering Belt
Alternator/Water Pump Belt
Fuel Filter
Valve Cover Gasket
Half Moon cam Gasket
Spark Plug gasket
Thermostat
PCV Valve

Edit:
Also an essential tool is this:

It makes life so much easier to set the Timing belt tensioner pulley prior to pulling the pin on the Tensioner when doing the timing belt on the car. I had a friend weld a 1/4" socket to a small peice of scrap metal and then drill two holes and insert and weld two nails. This made a tool nearly identical to the Mitsu tool above.
