Hey everyone,
Its about time I had my pads changed on my car and I'm deciding to go with all new rotors, pads, and braided lines.
I'd like to keep stock sized rotors and use stock calipers mainly because my all-season tires are on the stock 16's.
Where I'm undecided on is what kind of package I should go with. I'm thinking i would prefer slotted rotors over blanks because they would look nicer and I would like to hit the track a few times in the future and will have less fade. For now these are simply for street use.
I have seen a brembo package of rotors on ebay that includes brembo front slotted and a pair of rear slotted rotors made by A1, all for around $185. But I have never heard of A1 and am unsure of their quality. With these I would piece together some lines from somewhere and probably metal masters or axxis pads.
I'm also leaning heavily towards stoptech's stage 2 kit that simply comes with everything for around $600. I like this kit because it will come with aluminum hat rotors, so will probably be lighter than the others. Includes everything as well. Braided lines, pads, fluid, and rotors.
The other option i just began looking into is wilwood rotors, but after going through the website i need to find the dimensions of the rotors i need and am uncertain of the cost. These also come with aluminum hats. With this option I would probably find some lines somewhere and go with the pads mentioned above, unless wilwood has their own decent pads.
I haven't looked into baer yet, but that is an option as well.
I really don't mind spending and extra 100 dollars or so if the products are quality. But 600 would be my max for this.
Can anyone else please lend some opinions?
Also what are some opinions on zinc plating vs. black paint? I know both will rub off the face of the rotor after use, but I'm thinking the zinc plating reaches more into groves and leaves a lot less of the rotor exposed than the black painting?
