how do you guys tilt your mufflers (left, right, up) the way they are. is it just like that when you buy a whole exhaust system and the pipe before the muffler is just tilted or what?

It would be possible to custom angle it yourself, by custom welding it; most of the exhausts that you see like that are for a higher flow, less bends in the system, less backpressure, more power :thumb:
I'm not sure the effect they have on an averagely modded car but I/ve usually seen them on very high HP cars, i.e. 500+ and such in mags.
They do look very good in my opinion though, wish my ATR was a little crooked to the left :(

The only thing that tilting you muffler is cost you more money. Water gets stuck in them because they cant drain them out, and what do you know.... You now have to buy a new muffler because you have a rusted hole in it.

ushally when you get an exhast for eclipse or talon 2g they have to tilt the after market because thats only way. :thumb:

mine is tilted, i got the apexi n1 catback 3in and it looks f'in sweet. i have a 1g, ill get pics tomorrow cuz ill be updating my cardomain page.

most 3" exhaust for 2g are tilted as stated above...less bends add to free flowing exhaust. it is tilted because it goes under the rear suspension instead of over it (less bends). where it comes out necessitates that it will tilt up and to the left looking at the back of the car.

Can anyone name a cat-back exhaust they bought that came with this slanted muffler? I really like that look but most companies dont post up installed pics, so im not sure which ones have that angle look. Thanks :dsm:

why would you care about angle, and not about performance?
ok maybe a little angle would look nice.:D

I read that the ones with the slant IS more for performance. Less bends:thumb:

Oh, I have a 99 GS N/T btw. Are the slanted ones just harder to find for N/T Eclipses because there meant for higher output engines?

Some of the eBay exhaust systems have a nice muffler bend upward and to the side.

O really? I cant tell, so i wasnt sure. It would be nice if they would show some installed pics......

Hah, it's funny that you guys bring this thread back from the dead. I'm the OP and I have my muffler tilted now =D

Yeah, no kidding.. thats gotta be weird seeing one of your three year old threads back from the dead. LOL

Anyways, I've got and Apexi N1 cat-back exhaust and it has a nice tilt to it...

IMO tilted looks odd, I like my exhaust tucked/hidden and straight. Maybe it's after seeing so many mufflers just hacked on around town.

I don't get it :p

Andrews does fit well though...

Not really a typical tilt, or a typical muffler:

Oh and Zmann, lemme get your car for the weekend. Thankss. LOL

I think I win the tilted muffler contest. Picture in my gallery. It came out that way since when I built my exhaust, its just a straight peice of 3 inch then a 45 degree bend to the muffler, where it comes under the axle. Doesnt rub anything, and it cost me about 90 bucks to make including the muffler.

LOL that's tilted way too much. I haven't seen anything that bad since this old integra at the shore one year ROFL

Haha, its a little much sometimes but I mean, I budgeted that exhaust HARDCORE and I was really pleased with the results. I mated it to my 3'' megan downpipe and away I went. At least I have the go to back it up? Haha.
